Public roads comprise of different categories of roads based on their functions: interstates, principal arterials, minor arterials, major and minor collectors, and local roads in both urban and rural categories. The data for this indicator is sourced from Federal Highway Administration Highway Statistics Series. This is an annual indicator and is updated with a lag time of around one year.
